The shield is the same shape as the shield in the Transportation Corps branch insignia. Brick red and golden yellow are the colors of the Transportation Corps.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 22 January 1985. It was amended to include the dimensions of the insignia on 19 February 1985. (TIOH Drawing Number A-1-702)

Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height consisting of a brick red truck wheel and tire with gold at center and between the spokes, surrounded by branches of green live oak leaves, all supported by a blue tau cross with a gold scroll curving from the lower leaves of the branches, around the ends of the lateral arms of the cross, and folded across the upright, bearing in brick red letters the words "ACCENT ON ACTION."

Symbolism
Brick red and golden yellow (gold) are the colors used for the Transportation Corps. The truck wheel alludes to the mission of the unit and simulates the letter "O" for Oakland, the unit's home station. The live oak branches refer to the trees of the area for which the city was named. The tau cross is a symbol of St. Anthony and alludes to the Rancho San Antonio, the original Spanish land grant, part of which is now occupied by the City of Oakland. The blue represents San Francisco Bay, on which the city is located. The lateral arms and the vertical member of the tau cross represent the numeral 3; the tau is the 19th letter of the Greek alphabet. Thus the cross alludes to the unit's numerical designation.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 319th Transportation Group on 8 December 1971. It was redesignated for the 319th Transportation Brigade on 30 August 1984.
